Turtle Boat Head - 1992 - 8 min

by Y. David Chung with Matt Dibble, sound by Pooh Johnston

A barrage of images contrasts the experience of a Korean man who lived through the Japanese occupation, WWII and the Korean War, with his present life - locked behind bullet-proof glass in a convenience store.

Turtle Boat Head was first shown as part of an installation at the Whitney Museum of American Art. It went on to be shown at film festivals including L.A. Freewaves, The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film and Video Festival, San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival and won the Best of Show Award at the Rosebud Film and Video Awards in Washington, DC.
